Visit

Inside the Centre

The Reach for Health Centre provides a safe place where people who are in need of physical or mental health rehabilitation can receive help in finding ways to improve their mobility and general health. Those who have experienced a major health trauma or are living with long term and life-long health conditions will find expert help to improve their situation and give them hope for the future and even to return to work where appropriate. Despite the challenges members face, The Reach for Health Centre is a very happy place, where members can socialise and support each other, reducing their sense of isolation, sharing problems and improving their overall wellbeing.

The Reach for Health Centre is exclusively a physical and mental health rehabilitation centre for those needing individually tailored help in overcoming issues caused by ill health or injury and a place for those that, as they get older, want to remain fit and healthy for longer. Our rehabilitation programs are based upon physiotherapeutic exercise and movement to achieve significant outcomes and benefits. Visitors will see that we use a range of equipment, some of which might seem familiar, some of which is very specialised.

A high percentage of those who attend The Reach for Health Centre live within the local community or surrounding villages, others may travel many miles to come here. For some it is a huge effort and, if not for the Centre, they might not leave their home at all. The Centre is welcoming to all, is wheelchair-friendly and no-one is made to feel self -conscious whether their condition or disability is visible or invisible. It is a place where people meet to talk, laugh and make friends. We greatly encourage this social interaction at The Reach for Health Centre and provide additional opportunities to socialise.

Visitors are likely to see:

  • Our Rehabilitation Coaches guiding and enabling people who are striving to improve their mobility and helping to restore confidence.
  • Advising and encouraging members aiming to increase and maintain their fitness levels, we see a number of people who, although mature in years, are fit and healthy;  our tailored programs aim to help them remain that way for longer.
  • Members improving their health and wellbeing by exercising and socialising at the same time.
  • The Reach for Health Centre is a friendly, happy place with plenty of warmth, understanding and patience from the coaching team.

Centre Activities

We hold regular Community Forums where members can have their voices heard on matters affecting the running of the Centre, put forward ideas and questions to the Trustees, and be updated on any plans or news.

Throughout the year there are various activities held at the Centre to allow members to get together, from Bingo sessions and Curry Nights to Bazaars and a Choir. Outside events are often held, a sponsored wheelchair push around Draycote Water to a guided walk to the top of Mount Snowdon! Details of what is coming can be found on The Reach for Health Centre News on the home page.
