The Challenge: Facing the Northamptonshire Health Tsunami
The Urgent Reality of Northamptonshire’s Demographic Shift Northamptonshire is standing at a demographic crossroads. We are facing a "health tsunami" driven by a rapidly ageing population and an unprecedented rise in chronic multimorbidity. Current systems are not equipped for the scale of the challenge arriving over the next decade.
A Growing Demographic: Over-55s represent the core demographic of Northamptonshire. Locally, the population aged 80 and older is projected to grow by 20.6% by 2030—the fastest-growing cohort in the county.
The "Healthy Ageing" Gap: The number of residents aged 65 and over is projected to rise by nearly 24% over the next ten years. Without intervention, this will lead to a proportional surge in stroke, dementia, and cardiovascular disease.
The Economic Burden: National data indicates the cost of dementia alone is set to double to £90 billion by 2040. Locally, 32% of our population accounts for 35% of acute health spend due to complex chronic conditions.
The Status Quo: Limited access to community-led specialist rehabilitation leads to avoidable hospital admissions, accelerated frailty, and a system in permanent crisis.

The Business Investment Case: Strategic Alignment & Social Value
Investment That Aligns with Local Health Strategy.
We are seeking £8 million in strategic investment from suppliers to the NHS and West Northamptonshire Council, plus the many Northamptonshire based employers. This initiative is a direct response to the West Northamptonshire Council 2024 Public Health Report, which explicitly prioritises "Healthy Ageing" and community-led prevention to reduce health inequalities.
Strategic Alignment & ROI:
01
Direct Local Impact
Our model specifically targets the "Active Ageing" and "Prevention" priorities of the West Northamptonshire Health & Wellbeing Strategy.
02
NHS Cost Avoidance
Preventing just one emergency admission or A&E attendance represents a cost avoidance of £114 to over £1,000 per person.
03
Measurable Outcomes
We provide the data you need for Social Value reporting—tracking improvements in physical activity, falls prevention, and functional independence.
04
Economic Resilience
By supporting independence in the over-55s, we reduce the burden on family carers and local social care budgets, keeping the local economy resilient.
